Understand change.
The combined balance of the transformer stations shows grid imports and exports in Martinfeld. The community cooperative's PV projects add to the picture of local energy supply.

Through a partnership, Thüringer Energienetze (TEN) provides the combined energy balance of all transformer stations in Martinfeld. The SMARTinfeld community cooperative operates PV systems on the fire station, sports clubhouse and mayor's office. The fire station system was installed in December 2024; the sports clubhouse and mayor's office systems were installed in 2025. The fire station's data source is connected. Its unit and measurement interval still need confirmation; until then, this reading is not displayed publicly. The other two systems will follow.

What Martinfeld imports and exports.
The measurement provided by Thüringer Energienetze (TEN) represents the combined net power flow of all transformer stations in Martinfeld. Minute-by-minute power readings are used to calculate grid import, grid export and the balance for the selected period.

Calculation and limitations
Positive values of the assigned power field represent grid import; negative values represent grid export. Positive and negative minute-by-minute power readings in the signed raw time series are summed separately and divided by 60. Source fields for daily and monthly totals are not treated as kWh without verification.
Unique minute timestamps and raw-data completeness are checked. Gaps between two actual readings are linearly interpolated without new maxima or minima. Estimates contribute to the balance and are counted separately. Gaps without readings on both sides remain open. Long gaps increase uncertainty; peaks come exclusively from actual readings. Calendar days follow Europe/Berlin, including 23- and 25-hour days.
The transformer station balance includes the effects of the citizens' cooperative's installations and private solar PV systems, but does not show them separately. Solar electricity used directly on site is not visible at the transformer. Grid import therefore does not equal total electricity consumption.
PV measurements from the fire station describe only this individual installation of the citizens' cooperative. Data from the sports clubhouse and mayor's office will follow. A complete, quality-checked year must be analysed before the village can be described as a net electricity exporter over a year.
What do
the data tell us?
The transformer reading shows the village's balance between grid imports and exports. Alongside the community cooperative's systems, many private PV systems feed into the grid. In sunny months, Martinfeld therefore sometimes exports more energy than it imports, either temporarily or over the period considered. This is an energy-balance statement and does not mean the village is self-sufficient at all times.
Solar power used directly on site does not pass through the transformer stations and is not visible as an import or export in the grid balance. The single fire station measurement must therefore not be equated with Martinfeld's total PV generation. Forthcoming data from the sports clubhouse and mayor's office will provide a fuller picture of the cooperative's contribution.
